AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE UNIVERSITY

Create and maintain a student-centered intellectual environment that supports
examination of the human condition, academic advancement, cultural and global
awareness, civic responsibility, ethical action, moral growth, and leadership
development.
Integrate the results of scholarship about regional conflicts and local disputes into the
general curriculum so that the students can confront intellectually and critically some of
the major issues related to the major conflicts that often hamper regional development.
Carry out formal quality assurance practices in planning, implementation and evaluation
of the University’s core programs to realize institutional mission.
Prepare graduates with knowledge of their professional field for meaningful careers or
advanced study with enhanced communication skills, analytical perspectives, critical
thinking abilities, creativity, self-esteem and holistic growth of students.
Develop an educated society capable of promoting a more peaceful, equitable and
democratic society, enhancing the livelihood of its citizens to alleviate poverty. This is
through providing greater access to education by improving and expanding teacher
education to assist Somaliland fulfill its need for educators.
Offer and run agricultural programs oriented towards resolving the human resources
needs of Somaliland agricultural sector with specific focus on crop production, food
quality testing and animal husbandry leading to the Nation’s realization of self
sufficiency in health food production.
Provide technological training and education and prepare students to contribute to the
expansion of knowledge to address regional, national and local needs in
telecommunication, civil, structural, geotechnical, environmental and water resources,
and the introduction of low cost housing and road construction.
Offer medical and related health sciences training intended to address the capacity
development gaps in the health care fields in order to meet the expanding needs of
Somaliland in maintaining a health society.
Provide students with meaningful instruction for and about business and information
technology, and prepare them to function effectively as future leaders in the changing
